Bangalore vs Chennai - Rain plays spoilsport

The split points - one each for either team - take Chennai to third place, just ahead of Bangalore on a superior Net Run Rate.

Bangalore: A potential cracker between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, to be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday night, was called off due to inclement weather.

Rain delayed the toss by an hour and when it finally took place, Virat Kohli, standing in as Bangalore skipper for the injured Daniel Vettori, elected to field. However, the skies opened up once again and a persistent drizzle put paid to the hopes of an expectant crowd, which had to return disappointed once the match was officially called off at 11 p.m.

The split points - one each for either team - take Chennai (with nine points) to third place, just ahead of Bangalore (also on nine) on a superior Net Run Rate.
