Kolkata: Deccan Chargers scored their first point of IPL-V after rain and the resultant water-logging led to an abandonment of their away encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders, without a ball bowled at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday night.

There was drama early in the evening, as the skies opened up, when a temporary structure sheltering security personnel collapsed in the face of strong winds, causing injuries to three persons - reportedly two policemen and a spectator.

The collapsed enclosure was located near the 'J' Block at the ground.

A sizable crowd, which had hung around patiently waiting for play to commence, had to go back disappointed as umpires called off the game at around 10.30 p.m. Although the rain had stopped a while ago, persistent water-logging in the outfield compelled the umpires to call the game off.

Bottom-dwelling Chargers now have a solitary point from six games, while Kolkata , with nine points from eight matches, are second behind Delhi Daredevils.
